Officially Spring!

The flowers are starting to bloom and the Orange trees have blossoms that smell wonderful! Everything growing belies the cold and wet weather we all endured called Winter, that has barely left us. The Spring cleaning still isn't quite finished, and no, I never did finish cleaning my closets BUT I am thinking about it. Now and then I peal away a layer of mess. I now officially have 7 shoes - with no mates yet, oh, and found the mate to my favorite brown trouser socks! How did this happen?

I think most of us enjoy the start of a fresh new year, a fresh new Spring, that holds promises for the year. It just doesn't get any better than this. All that is new - is before us, all that is old - washed away with Winter. Whatever happened last year has become memories and now we are starting the memories for next Spring, when we again sit in our yards and watch the birds and flowers bloom to life. If you live in an apartment or condo, it is the same, just scaled down. It's all new and all good.

Tax season is upon us also. There is always something we don't really want to do but even this is a part of Spring happenings. Pay or refund? Getting started on the diet we hope will get us Summer ready is also a part of Spring because... we put it off all Winter! I vowed last year to fit in a Tankini by this Summer. That just isn't going to happen. ( I don't owe Uncle Sam either.) I am going to revamp my favorite shorts and buy a few new T-shirts and call it good enough.

It's officially Spring and it's just too nice outside to dwell on last year, and a fine excuse to dodge cleaning my closets until I need the summer clothes in there! I have time to lose a few pounds, that I may just do yet since getting outside to go to arboretums and lush gardens is as good exercise as cleaning anything around my closets! I have started it. I’ll let you know if I got to the secret place which is in the back with a rod full of clothes come Summer. I know I have sundresses in there somewhere and there is only one way short of buying new ones to find them. The nasty deed must be done! At least I can open the door now and not have things fall out on me! This is really pretty good since the door opens INWARDS to the closet. I really don't know what the builders of this place were thinking. Doors need to open outwards on closets.

Just like bees and humming birds, my mind flits from subject to subject, and a dozen little chores all going as suits my mood. I have enjoyed getting out to a few of my favorite places, like the quaint shops and a great lunch place set in the top of a lighthouse. It overlooks the bay and the Queen Mary. I've been there twice already this year!. I also made it to Huntington Library and almost saw it all before it closed. I walked it all, snapped some great pictures, and shared time out with friends and family. I don't walk well but I still can - so I do! Then I get home and go at my projects with a fresh eye. My mini museum looks good and if I close my eyes, I can picture a neat row of clothing and neatly stacked shoes in my closet!

You can see these places on-line if you live far from Southern CA. I'll try and get my web site cleaned up too and put some pictures up to share. Spring always makes me happy! My home makes me happy. My family & friends make my life so much happier. I have hope for the year to be better than the last one. I have a couple more months to clean my closets. I am stuck on that closet thing...

Happy Spring Time everyone!
